When it Rains it Pours

Normally I like to take my shower at night so I can wake up 15-20 min before work and still make it on time.  Essentially I just brush my hair and teeth use the restroom add a little make-up and walk out the door.  Today however, I decided to wake up an hour early so I'd have some extra time to do my hair and switch over my laundry.  Everything seemed to be going smoothly...it was a pretty productive morning actually.  I straightened and curled my hair, checked and even managed to get a load of laundry started.  I thought today was going to be a pretty descent day until I step foot outside to gross weather wind and rain...there went my hair.... I drove part way to work like normal and had to walk the rest of the way.  Normally this isn't an issue but because it was raining AND windy my umbrella and rain coat did not help much if any at all.  I was constantly fighting the umbrella to keep it from turning inside out...needless to say I arrived to work 7 minutes late and a wet mess.  To top it off I was greeted by a manager with "Samantha your hair..."  and it wasn't a "your hair looks good" comment but "maybe you should buy a brush before work" comment...good thing I keep one at work.

I told a coworker that today wasn't going to be a good day for me...I could just feel it.  Well only a few hours after saying that while stocking the nail polish I manage to drop one and it shattered splattering my pants and covering my sperrys.  All I could do at the time was repeat over and over to myself  "I love my job, I love my job, I love my job."  I was so angry!  Both my shoes and pants will have to be replaced and as most of you know sperrys aren't cheap!!  My nice clothes were essentially ruined by cheap nail polish.  And to make things worse my coworkers followed me around the rest of the day calling me 'little red riding shoes'.  I seriously felt like throwing shopping baskets at all of their heads. haha

I'm about to head to the gym to run off some of my frustration but at the rate this day is going it'll probably end in a disaster as a result of a twisted ankle or worse...oh I hope not.

Today sucked...but hey tomorrow is another day right?

I'm Not Yours and You're Not Mine, Be my Anti-Valentine?

First off Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! I thought I’d post something brief on my opinion of the special day. I don’t believe Valentine’s Day is a day to be hated but a day to be embraced. It’s not a day just for ridiculously cute couples, it’s a day to take the time to remind everyone how much you care about them and it’s also a day where you are reminded of how much you mean to others. When was the last time you told your best friend how much they mean to you? Have you told your parents how grateful you are to have them in your life? I understand we don’t need a day to remind us to say these things but let’s be honest life can get a little hectic and we don’t always tell our loved ones exactly how much we appreciate them. All I’m saying is if you’re single don’t sit around wallowing and being bitter about Valentine’s Day...Make a Valentine for a friend and tell them how much you love them. Remember in elementary school when you gave out Valentine’s to everyone? You may have given the kid you weren’t so fond of the Valentine in the box that you thought was the least attractive, but that’s not the point. The point is even that kid still got a Valentine. I send out Valentines to a bunch of my friends every year just to add a bit of sunshine to their day. I know I love receiving greeting cards, I still have most of my cards from growing up...they mean more to me than gifts because it’s the thought that means most. I’m a firm believer that the best Valentine you can give comes from your heart and can be put in a card. Even if you haven’t noticed it lately God has blessed you with many people who love and care about you. Now is a great time to tell them that you care about them too.

So how are you spending your Valentine’s Day? Are you sitting alone being all bitter because you haven’t found that special someone yet? Or, are you spending it with a loved one be that special someone, a family member or a great friend? It’s only a miserable Hallmark Holiday if you make it one.

I know I’m having a nice Valentine’s Day dinner at my place complete with great friends, spaghetti, baked ziti, toasted garlic cheesy bread, a tossed salad and possibly a nice glass of wine :) If I haven’t told you lately I love you all and hope you have a wonderful Valentine’s Day!
